There was a time when reality TV felt… well, real. Before endless competition series, influencer houses, and perfectly curated social media moments, there were shows like Brooke Knows Best.

This month marks 18 years since the beloved VH1 series premiered in July 2008, introducing viewers to a new chapter in the life of Brooke Hogan. After growing up in front of America on Hogan Knows Best alongside her father, Hulk Hogan, Brooke stepped out on her own for a spinoff that gave fans an even closer look at her journey.

Season one followed the then-19-year-old aspiring pop star as she moved out of her parents’ house and into her own place in Miami. Living with roommates Glenn and Ashley, Brooke balanced chasing her music dreams while navigating adulthood and dealing with the very public challenges surrounding her family’s personal life.

It was funny, emotional, chaotic, and everything fans loved about reality television during that era.

Long before the spinoff hit VH1, Brooke was already making waves in music. Just two years earlier, she released her debut album, Undiscovered, which has gone on to become a cult favorite among pop fans.

The record delivered unforgettable tracks like “About Us,” “My Space,” “Incognito,” and more, proving Brooke had ambitions that stretched far beyond reality television.

Although Brooke Knows Best wrapped after two seasons and 20 episodes in 2009, its legacy has continued to live on with longtime fans who still revisit the series today. And Brooke hasn’t left music behind, either.

Back in May, she returned with her own version of Aaliyah’sTry Again,” giving the 2000’s classic a fresh interpretation while honoring everything that made the original so beloved.

Eighteen years later, Brooke Knows Best remains one of those reality shows that perfectly captured an era. It was fun, messy, heartfelt, and unapologetically 2000s… and honestly, we kind of miss TV like that.
