MARY BETH BARONE’S NETFLIX SPECIAL IS OUT NOW, AND IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING

Mary Beth Barone’s first Netflix special finally dropped, and it feels like the moment a lot of us have been waiting for.

Filmed back in March at the Skirball Center in New York City, the set is pure Mary Beth: quick, self-aware, and laser-focused on the weird little corners of modern life. She spends the hour riffing on ex-best friends, dating apps, and the bizarre universe of NYPD merch, landing jokes that somehow feel both hyper-specific and deeply relatable.

If you’ve been following her for a while, this special probably feels overdue. Back in 2020, Vulture called her “the undisputed queen of Hot Girl Comedy,” and watching this set, it’s easy to see why. She’s been building to this for years, sharpening her voice in clubs, on podcasts, and on TV.

Outside of stand-up, she’s been busy: she stars as Grace on Benito Skinner’s Amazon Prime comedy Overcompensating (which premiered in 2025), writes for the show, and co-hosts the podcast Ride with Benito weekly.

Even with the special out, she’s still hitting rooms in New York. She’s got two Brooklyn shows coming up: New Joke Night this Thursday at 9:30 PM and the Galaxy Brain Ball dance party this Friday, July 31st at 9:30 PM. Both are sold out, but if you’re around, it’s worth trying your luck at the door or just catching the next thing she’s doing 😉
