Miley Cyrus is officially turning the page. The icon has signed with Atlantic Records, closing out her partnership with Columbia and setting the stage for the next evolution of her career.
The move arrives alongside a new Wonderland cover story featuring a wide-ranging conversation between Miley and Daryl Hannah, touching on her desire to return to acting, growing up in the public eye, and what’s next for one of pop’s most restless creative forces.
On the music front, Miley described her approach to songwriting as something almost alive. “For me, a song isn’t just chords, melody, and lyrics. It’s a feeling,” she said. “It’s not right or wrong like an answer. It’s alive. It almost becomes its own little entity that tells you what it needs if you’re listening.”
She emphasized the importance of collaboration without ego, noting that she loves “making records with people who aren’t precious about ideas” and who are “comfortable throwing an idea away or expanding on it.”
Miley also revealed that her upcoming album includes songs that were originally intended for previous projects, including tracks from her SHE IS COMING era, reworked and recontextualized for this new chapter.
When Hannah asked about future acting or directing roles, Miley didn’t hesitate. “Well… That’s partly why I wanted to get in touch. I’d genuinely love to do both. My dream has always been to work with artists I admire, and you’re one of them. I think we’d make magic together, Daryl. I have an idea. Call me.”
