Get ready, because one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time is heading back to the big screen!

Street Fighter officially hits theaters Friday, October 16, bringing some of gaming’s most recognizable characters to life with a star-studded cast, plenty of action and a little ’90s nostalgia.

Based on Capcom’s legendary video game series, the new film stars Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Callina Liang, alongside a lineup of familiar faces from Hollywood, comedy, music and professional wrestling.

And honestly, this cast alone has us intrigued!

WHAT IS ‘STREET FIGHTER’ ABOUT?

Set in 1993, the film follows former fighting partners Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), whose relationship has become strained over the years.

But when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, the two find themselves pulled back into a world of intense competition, dangerous opponents and unfinished business.

What initially appears to be a fighting tournament quickly becomes something much bigger, as a deadly conspiracy forces the former friends to confront their past and potentially face off against one another.

And if they can’t figure out what’s really happening? Well, as the film’s official synopsis puts it, it’s GAME OVER!

With the story taking place in 1993, the movie also embraces the era that helped make Street Fighter a worldwide gaming phenomenon.

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS CAST?!

Beyond its three leading stars, Street Fighter features a seriously entertaining mix of talent.

Jason Momoa takes on the role of Blanka, while Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson portrays Balrog. Wrestling fans will also recognize Roman Reigns as Akuma and Cody Rhodes as Guile.

The cast also includes David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage and musician Orville Peck as Vega.

It’s definitely not your everyday movie lineup, and that’s part of what makes this adaptation so interesting.

Behind the camera is Kitao Sakurai, whose previous work includes Bad Trip and Beef. The film’s story is credited to Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman, with the screenplay written by T.J. Fixman and Sakurai.

THE BATTLE BEGINS OCTOBER 16!

Whether you grew up playing Street Fighter at the arcade, spent hours battling friends on a game console or are simply looking for an action-packed movie night, this latest adaptation is bringing plenty of familiar characters to theaters.

And with a cast this unexpected, we’re especially curious to see how everyone brings these legendary fighters to life.

Street Fighter opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, October 16, 2026. Who’s ready for the next round?!
