Melanie C’s brand new album Sweat is officially out now via Virgin Music Group! This is Mel at her most energetic, fun, and free; hands-down her most euphoric record to date. If you’ve been craving that sweaty, hands-in-the-air dancefloor rush, this album delivers it from start to finish.
The 13-track LP, recorded between London, Stockholm, and LA, is a nonstop celebration of movement and release. It kicks off with the pounding title track “Sweat” and immediately locks you into a groove with “Drum Machine,” a propulsive, club-ready banger built for glowing dancefloors and late-night drives. From there, it just keeps building.
“What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” brings big, cheeky attitude with infectious hooks. “Til It Breaks” and “Pressure” crank up the tension and release, blending Mel’s powerhouse vocals with thumping beats that make your body want to move. “Emotional Memory” adds a touch of heartfelt reflection without slowing the momentum, while “Attitude” is pure swagger, the kind of track that makes you strut.
The energy stays sky-high through “Good For Nothing,” the triumphant “Undefeated Champion,” and the silky, seductive “Cashmere.” Then it hits peak euphoria with “Free To Love,” a soaring, arms-wide-open anthem that feels like the emotional and sonic climax. “One Track Mind” and the playful closer “Flick Of The Wrist” keep the party going right to the final beat.
This is Melanie C embracing joy without apology. As she said in the press release: “I’ve done a lot of soul-searching, now I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again.”
And she absolutely succeeds. The production is sharp, modern, and full of bounce… think pulsing synths, driving drum machines, glittering hooks, and that unmistakable Mel C vocal power soaring over everything. It’s fun, flirty, empowering, and relentlessly danceable from front to back.
She addresses the contrast with the world outside perfectly: “There are so many horrific things going on in the world, when you make pop and dance music, it can seem almost churlish. But music is what gets me through tough moments. I’m really happy I am bringing out a joyful record at a very dark time.”
Sweat feels like that much-needed escape hatch: a defiant, glittering dance party in the middle of the storm.
