Exciting news for the Britney Army! Britney Spears’ highly anticipated film adaptation of her best-selling memoir, The Woman in Me, has officially found its writer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Liz Meriwether, the creative force behind New Girl, The Dropout, and Dying for Sex, has joined the project. The news marks another exciting step forward for one of Hollywood’s most anticipated upcoming biopics.

The film reunites Jon M. Chu and Marc Platt, the creative team behind the Wicked films, with Jon attached to direct and Marc producing. While Universal Pictures declined to comment on the report, fans are already buzzing over the powerhouse team bringing Britney’s story to the big screen.
Based on Britney’s groundbreaking 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, the film will chronicle her incredible rise from teenage pop sensation to global superstar while also exploring the deeply personal moments that shaped her life, including her high-profile relationships, the years she spent under a conservatorship, and the fight to reclaim her freedom and her voice.
The memoir became an instant cultural phenomenon upon its release. It sold more than 1.1 million copies in the United States during its first week, surpassed 2 million U.S. copies within months, debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller list, and became Simon & Schuster’s fastest-selling audiobook ever. It was also the result of a reported $15 million publishing deal, making it one of the largest celebrity book deals in history.
With an award-winning writer now officially attached and an acclaimed director and producer already on board, The Woman in Me biopic is continuing to build the dream team Britney fans have been hoping for.
