Snoop Dogg is getting the biopic treatment, and now we know exactly when it’s hitting theaters.
Universal Pictures has officially locked in an August 6th, 2027, release date for Snoop, the long-awaited film that chronicles the rise of the rap icon, mogul, and cultural phenomenon. The announcement came straight from Snoop himself on Instagram yesterday, confirming the summer 2027 launch.
The film will follow Calvin Broadus Jr.’s journey from his early days to becoming one of the most influential figures in hip-hop history. Directed by Craig Brewer, the project is built on a rewrite of Joe Robert Cole’s original script. Jonathan Daviss, best known for Outer Banks, will step into the main role, bringing Snoop’s story to life on screen.
Producers on the project include Snoop Dogg himself, alongside Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker.
With an R-rated approach and a team that understands music-driven storytelling, Snoop is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated music biopics in years.
