The Street Fighter movie is officially punching its way into theaters this fall! Universal’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming action film, which is now set to hit theaters on October 16th.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay he wrote with T. J. Fixman, the film brings Capcom’s iconic fighting game franchise back to the big screen with a fresh ensemble cast and a 1993 setting. The story follows Ryu and Ken Masters as they’re recruited by Chun-Li for the World Warrior Tournament, a brutal competition that quickly turns into something much bigger when a hidden conspiracy comes to light.

Noah Centineo leads the cast alongside Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Eric André, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa. With that lineup, the movie already feels built to be loud, chaotic, and highly watchable.

The trailer seems to lean into the scale of the tournament, the rivalry at the center of the story, and the kind of larger-than-life energy fans expect from a Street Fighter adaptation. By setting the film in 1993 and pulling in so many recognizable faces, this version looks ready to blend nostalgia, action, and big-screen spectacle in a way that could finally land with general audiences.

For longtime fans of the game, the big question now is whether this adaptation can deliver the adrenaline, style, and character chemistry that made Street Fighter such a lasting pop culture force in the first place. If the trailer is any indication, the answer is that this one is going for full impact.
