Sam Smith is giving fans an intimate first look at their upcoming album, Hazel Eyes, with a powerful new Spotify Live Room session.

Ahead of the album’s August 21st release, Sam stopped by Spotify Music Studios in Los Angeles to perform When He’s Gone live for the very first time. The emotional track, which appears on Hazel Eyes, puts Sam’s unmistakable vocals and vulnerability front and center as they deliver one of their most personal performances yet.

“When He’s Gone” is the latest preview from Sam’s fifth studio album and explores the more melancholy side of love and relationships. The song begins with a stripped-back acoustic feel before swelling into something bigger, making it the perfect showcase for Sam’s signature vocal power.

But the Live Room session didn’t stop there. Sam also put their own soulful spin on Fergie’s 2006 classic, “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” The cover transforms the beloved pop hit into an intimate, emotional moment that feels entirely Sam’s own.

Both Spotify Live Room performances are now available to stream, with the full performance videos set to follow.

Hazel Eyes arrives August 21st. Pre-save/Pre-order here!
