If there’s one artist who has never been afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve, it’s Tove Lo.
The Swedish pop visionary has unveiled the breathtaking new music video for “des fleurs,” her collaboration with Belgian superstar Stromae, giving fans another taste of what’s to come from her highly anticipated sixth studio album, ESTRUS, arriving September 18th.
The release follows the announcement of what may be Tove’s boldest and most vulnerable era to date. The album’s title, ESTRUS (a term meaning a female mammal in heat) perfectly captures the project’s raw emotional energy.
Speaking about the record, Tove explained: “Estrus is an animal in heat. It’s primal. It’s my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything. There’s no good advice on this album… just a lot of feelings, no solutions.” That honesty has always been one of Tove’s greatest strengths, and ESTRUS promises to push that even further.
Recorded between Los Angeles, Stockholm, and a small fishing village in Sweden where she spent summers as a child, the album reconnects Tove with both her past and her present. It’s also the same peaceful location where she created parts of her acclaimed 2022 album, Dirt Femme.
Tove will celebrate the album’s release with six intimate North American shows, including a special performance at Under the K Bridge Park in Brooklyn just one day after ESTRUS arrives. More show info can be found here!
Meanwhile, the newly released “des fleurs” video is every bit as mesmerizing as fans would expect, pairing Tove and Stromae’s unique artistry with stunning visuals that heighten the song’s emotional weight.
If “des fleurs” is any indication, ESTRUS won’t just be another Tove Lo album; it’s about to be one of her most fearless yet.
