The Practical Magic 2 trailer is finally here, and honestly, it’s about time. Fans have been waiting forever for a follow-up to the beloved original, and this first look makes it clear the sequel is leaning all the way back into the moonlit, witchy chaos that made the first film such a cult favorite.
Directed by Susanne Bier, the sequel returns to the world of the Owens sisters as they face a dark curse threatening to tear their family apart once and for all. The film is being framed as a full cinematic event packed with “fun, magic and mayhem,” which feels exactly right for a story this many people have been hoping would come back to life.
The best part, of course, is seeing Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock back as Sally and Gillian Owens. Their return alone is enough to make this feel like a proper event, but the cast is even bigger this time around, with Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod joining the mix. Also back are Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as Frances and Jet Owens, which is a huge win for anyone who loved the original movie’s family dynamic.
The trailer first played for CinemaCon attendees last week, giving theater insiders an early peek before the rest of the world got in on the fun. Now that it’s public, the excitement is only going to get louder, especially with the film set to hit theaters on September 11th!
After all these years, Practical Magic 2 finally looks like the sequel fans have been hoping for… a little spooky, a little emotional, and fully committed to the kind of spellbinding tone that made the original so memorable.
