Katy Perry is letting Vogue Australia in on almost of the aspects of her life.

Derek Blasberg got to see what the life of Katy Perry was really like when chatting up with her while she’s on her 2018 Witness World Tour. For the August issue of Vogue AU Katy opened up about meeting Orlando Bloom, getting help, and how she sadly developed depression after her latest album came out.

“I have had bouts of situational depression and my heart was broken last year because, unknowingly, I put so much validity in the reaction of the public, and the public didn’t react in the way I had expected to … which broke my heart,” Katy said regarding her album reaction from critics and the public.

Instead of staying on the sad topic, she shared something positive that came out of the situation… “Music is my first love and I think it was the universe saying: ‘Okay, you speak all of this language about self-love and authenticity, but we are going to put you through another test and take away any kind of validating ‘blankie.’ Then we’ll see how much you do truly love yourself.'”

And what has been Katy’s biggest goal this past year? Stepping back into the light and life of Katheryn Hudson, Katy’s birth name. “This last year has been about killing my ego, which has been really necessary for my career. But for my personal life, it doesn’t work that way. If I want to have that true balance, I have to step into being Katheryn Hudson.”

Katy’s August 2018 issue of Vogue Australia is on newsstands now.
