Did G-Eazy just sneak a little Britney Spears reference into his latest song?! Because we’re pretty sure he did!
The rapper teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign for his new single “JFK,” released September 25, and there’s one particular lyric that immediately caught our attention.
During the first verse, G-Eazy raps: “She hit me one more time / Cause she know I got Britney.”
And if you’re a Britney fan, you already know EXACTLY where our minds went! The line appears to play on Britney’s legendary debut single, “…Baby One More Time,” which helped launch her into superstardom in 1998.
It’s a quick, playful reference, but we love seeing Britney’s music continue to pop up in unexpected places.
A LITTLE BRITNEY MOMENT!
Whether G-Eazy intended it as a direct tribute or simply a clever piece of wordplay, the connection to “…Baby One More Time” is pretty hard to miss.
And considering the song’s place in pop culture history, it makes perfect sense!
Nearly three decades after Britney introduced herself to the world with that unforgettable debut, her music continues to influence artists across different genres.
From pop to hip-hop, her songs, lyrics and iconic moments have become part of the musical vocabulary that so many artists grew up with.
And honestly, we’ll never complain about hearing a little Britney reference!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW WITH G-EAZY?
Beyond the lyrical shout-out, “JFK” marks another exciting chapter for G. Produced by Nic Nac, the collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign arrives alongside G-Eazy’s newly announced partnership with EZMNY Records and EMPIRE.
The track serves as the second single from his forthcoming album through the partnership, following “Pretty Girls,” which was released in August.
While additional details about the upcoming project have yet to be revealed, the two releases offer fans an early look at what’s next for the rapper.
And as for that Britney lyric? It’s a fun reminder that even the smallest references can bring a little pop nostalgia into a completely different song.
“JFK” by G-Eazy and Ty Dolla $ign is out now! And G-Eazy, if that was a Britney shout-out, just know we caught it 😉
