Call it fate! Twenty-five years after Serendipity made us all believe that maybe the universe really does have a plan, the beloved romantic comedy is getting a very special anniversary celebration in New York City.
Serendipity3 and Wollman Rink are teaming up for a FREE outdoor screening of Serendipity in Central Park, celebrating 25 years of the movie in one of the most perfect locations possible.
Why? Because Wollman Rink is the exact place where the movie’s iconic ice-skating scenes were filmed. Talk about full circle!
‘CALL IT FATE’
“An evening under the Manhattan skyline with a beloved NYC love story, free popcorn, and our iconic Frrrozen Hot Chocolate? Call it fate,” Serendipity3 teased while announcing the celebration on Instagram.
Honestly, they had us at Frrrozen Hot Chocolate! Watching Serendipity under the Manhattan skyline would already be pretty magical, but getting to watch it at an actual filming location from the movie takes the nostalgia to another level.
Released in 2001, the romantic comedy starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale follows Jonathan and Sara, two strangers who meet by chance in New York City and leave their potential future together up to fate. Over the years, the movie has become a go-to comfort watch for rom-com lovers, with New York City practically serving as another character in the story.
And, of course, Serendipity3 itself became forever connected to the movie.
THE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION GETS EVEN SWEETER
The free screening isn’t the only way fans can celebrate the milestone.
A special anniversary giveaway is also offering the chance to win a pretty dreamy NYC experience featuring a Wollman Rink season pass, an evening at Serendipity3, and food and drinks at The Waldorf Astoria New York.
Basically, if you wanted to live inside a New York City romantic comedy for a little while, this might be your chance.
Between the Central Park setting, free popcorn, Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and a movie all about destiny being screened at one of its most memorable filming locations, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting way to celebrate 25 years of Serendipity.
So grab someone you love, or maybe show up single and leave the rest up to fate. After all, stranger things have happened in New York City!
