Kim Petras isn’t done taking us on a DETOUR just yet!
The pop icon has officially announced DETOUR: RARE N’ DELUXE, an expanded edition of her 2026 album DETOUR, arriving next Friday, September 18th. And considering how much we’ve loved this era already, we’ll gladly stay on the ride a little longer.
DETOUR marked an exciting new chapter for Petras as an independent artist, giving her the freedom to take her music, visuals and overall creative direction into her own hands.
The result has been one of her most exciting eras yet. The album earned strong reviews following its release from Pitchfork, while Rolling Stone praised the project as Petras stepped into a rawer, more independent electropop world.
But the music has only been one piece of it. Kim has fully committed to the aesthetic surrounding DETOUR, building out the era through everything from the Pretour EP to self-funded music videos for tracks including “Freak It” and “Need For Speed.”
It’s an approach that’s allowed fans to see what Kim Petras looks and sounds like when she’s calling the shots, and clearly she still has more to show us.
‘DETOUR: RARE N’ DELUXE’ IS COMING
Now, RARE N’ DELUXE will expand the world of DETOUR even further. The deluxe edition officially arrives September 18th, giving fans another reason to revisit an album that has already become a standout chapter in Petras’ career.
And honestly, there’s something especially exciting about watching Kim build this era independently. She’s creating the music she wants to create, directing the visuals she wants to make and proving that a major pop era doesn’t have to follow the traditional major-label playbook to make an impact.
