We’re officially days away from Ice Cream Man hitting theaters. Eli Roth’s latest horror film opens this Friday, August 7th, with the filmmaker pulling quadruple duty as director, co-writer, co-producer and one of the actors.
Set in a seemingly idyllic summer town, the movie follows a mysterious ice cream man whose sweet treats cause the children to turn on the adults, plunging the community into bloody chaos. It’s described as a graphic, unrated slasher that reimagines the 1995 film of the same name, but it’s not a direct adaptation of the Image Comics series.
“It is totally crazy. It’s completely unhinged. I think it is the most insane movie I’ve ever made, and I don’t think you’re going to see anything quite like it in a theater this summer,” Roth said in a recent interview about the film.
The feature stars Ari Millen as the titular ice cream man, alongside Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche, Dylan Hawco, Sarah Abbott, Shiloh O’Reilly, Kiori Mirza Waldman, Charlie Zeltzer and Charlie Storey.
