The long-awaited follow-up to It Follows is officially in motion.
They Follow, the upcoming sequel to the 2015 cult horror hit, has begun filming, marking a major step forward for the project fans have been anticipating for years. The film is once again written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, the original creator behind the first movie’s haunting, slow-burn success.
While plot details are still being kept tightly under wraps, the sequel is set to take place a decade after the events of the original film and is currently slated for a 2027 release through Neon. Maika Monroe is confirmed to return, alongside Naomi Ackie, signaling a continuation of the story with both familiar and new faces.
The cast has also expanded significantly, with new additions including Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Michael Gandolfini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick, and Jan Hoag. Deadline broke the news earlier this week.
Behind the scenes, producers Scott Aharoni, Chris Bender, and Michael D’Alto are helping bring the next chapter to life. With the original It Follows widely praised for its eerie atmosphere and unique take on horror, expectations are high for what They Follow will deliver next.
Now that cameras are rolling, the countdown to its return has officially begun!
