The first teaser for Crystal Lake has officially arrived, giving horror fans a chilling glimpse into the origins of one of the most iconic slasher franchises of all time.

Set to stream on Peacock this fall, the highly anticipated Friday the 13th prequel series comes from A24 and dives deep into the twisted history of the Voorhees family. The eight-episode series is set in the 1970s and centers on a cursed small town where camp counselors are destined to meet gruesome ends, long before Jason Voorhees becomes the masked legend we know today.

Leading the cast is Linda Cardellini who steps into the role of Pamela Voorhees, the original architect of Camp Crystal Lake’s terror. Alongside her, Callum Vinson portrays a young Jason, offering a rare look at the character before his transformation into a horror icon.

The series promises to explore the psychological and emotional layers behind the Voorhees legacy, building toward what is described as the “birth” of Jason. With A24’s signature atmospheric storytelling and a focus on character-driven horror, Crystal Lake is shaping up to be a fresh yet faithful expansion of the franchise.

Behind the scenes, Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry) serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, while original Friday the 13th creator Victor Miller is also onboard as an executive producer, adding an extra layer of authenticity for longtime fans.

First-look images released by Entertainment Weekly tease a haunting tone, spotlighting Cardellini’s unsettling transformation into Pamela and hinting at the eerie world that shaped Jason’s dark destiny.

Crystal Lake premieres October 15th on Peacock, just in time to usher in spooky season with a new chapter of terror.
