Icona Pop is back with a new burst of euphoric pop energy, dropping their fresh single “Butterfly Feelings” today.

The track captures that giddy, slightly chaotic rush of falling head‑over‑heels in love, blending bright, futuristic synths, pulsing club‑ready rhythms, and a bittersweet, confessional tone that feels very classic Icona Pop.

The duo co‑wrote the song themselves, and it leans into the kind of emotional whiplash fans love from them: the kind of crush that starts out confusing and overwhelming, then refuses to leave your head. “‘Butterfly Feelings’ is a little song about falling stupidly in love,” Icona Pop share. “We were thinking of all the times when we had that feeling. You try to deny it in the beginning, but you can’t stop thinking about this person.”

The single is the first taste from their upcoming album Ritual, which arrives August 14th via Ultra Records/Iconic Sound Recordings. When asked about the record, Icona Pop describes it as a balance between healing and re‑entering the world. “Healing requires you to slow down and reflect, but you can’t work on yourself 24/7 forever,” the duo said.

“Eventually, you have to get back out into the world and see what happens. You might mess up—but that could be exactly what you need. For us, the dance floor has always been a place where we find ourselves and each other again. It’s where we can disappear into the music and let go of everything else.”
