If you’re anywhere near Rhode Island, Pizza Mamma is absolutely worth the drive.

The restaurant comes from Alicia Carmody, the newest Rhode Island Housewife on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, and it’s owned and operated by Alicia and her fiancé, Bill Kitsilis. It’s already making noise locally too, recently winning best pizza in Rhode Island, which honestly feels very on brand for a place this good.

Located at 1006 Reservoir Ave, Pizza Mamma is the kind of spot that feels fun, affordable, and seriously worth the hype. The restaurant says it best itself: “At Pizza Mamma, every pie tells a story. Alicia’s menu is a love letter to Italian-American pizza styles, offering something for every craving. Every pizza begins with dough made from scratch, a technique Alicia inherited from Mamma and a nod to Superior Bakery’s enduring legacy of handcrafted quality.”

And yes, the menu really does have something for everyone. You’ve got grinders, wings, salads, New York style pizza, a gluten free pie option, Sicilian pies, and their popular Detroit style pizza, so nobody in the group is left out. It’s the kind of place that makes it easy to go with a few people and order a little bit of everything, which is exactly what makes it so good for casual pizza nights.

I went with one of my best friends and my cousin last week and it was amazing. We drove an hour and a half just to grab a few slices, and it was beyond worth it. We got the infamous Pizza Chips to-go (if you know you know), I had two slices of white pizza, my friend had two BBQ slices, and my cousin had two regular cheese slices, and needless to say, we left very full and very happy.

If you go, you absolutely need to try the brownie too, because that thing is ridiculous in the best way. Between the pizza, the sides, the dessert, and the whole vibe, Pizza Mamma is the kind of place that feels like a legit local gem, and one people are going to keep talking about for a while.
