Universal is bringing the Meet the Parents franchise back to theaters with Focker-in-Law, and the first trailer already has longtime fans talking! The film is set to arrive on Thanksgiving, marking the first new installment in the series since 2010 and giving the comedy franchise a full return to the big screen.
The new movie brings back the core cast that made the original films such a hit. Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson are all reprising their familiar roles as Jack Byrnes, Greg Focker, and Kevin Rawley, while Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are also returning as Pam Byrnes Focker and Dina Byrnes. For fans of the franchise, that lineup alone makes this feel like a proper reunion.
Ariana Grande is the biggest new addition to the cast, adding fresh star power to a series that has always leaned on family chaos, awkward tension, and escalating comedy. John Hamburg is directing after co-writing the earlier films, which should help keep the tone aligned with what audiences expect while still giving the new chapter room to surprise people.
Production wrapped last year after shooting from August through early November, so this one has clearly been in the works for a while. With the release timing on Thanksgiving, Focker-in-Law looks positioned as a major holiday comedy play for Universal, and a nostalgia-driven one at that.
If the trailer is any indication, the Focker family is about to make awkward dinner-table energy a big-screen event all over again!
