Get ready to be taken to ‘Church‘ with Aly & AJ’s new single!
Aly and AJ are back and better than ever! The duo have released their highly anticipated new single, ‘Church,’ and of course it’s as iconic as you’d expect it to me. Coming from their forthcoming EP, ‘Sanctuary,’ which will feature five new songs, the girls “reveal their most authentic selves,” according to the official press release.
The powerhouse sisters will be taking their new music on tour starting this summer and will be doing something quite incredible at each show. It was revealed that the girls will be bringing The Trevor Project; ‘the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people, by bringing donation bins and awareness booths to every tour date.’
While this isn’t the first time Aly and AJ have done something like this for their tour, it’s still heartwarming to see two people care so much about helping and raising awareness for others. There are so many people in the industry with big platforms that don’t do anything like this, so it’s refreshing to see two people with caring and accepting hearts do something out of the good of their hearts.
Speaking on the upcoming tour, Aly opened up by saying “Shows are a sanctuary for our fans. We find a lot of peace and healing comes with talking to them while on tour.” She continued,“Hearing their stories about how they came to our music or how it impacted their life – it really touched us and we wanted to give something back.”
AJ also spoke about the tour noting that fans inspired them a tremendous amount by opening up about mental health struggles. “Depression had held us hostage for so many years and this felt like our time to talk about it,” she said.
Being someone who has a mental illness and is openly gay, and has been helped and inspired by these two gems, there really are no words to describe the gratitude and love I have for them.
