Last months piece on ‘Women Who Inspire Me‘ was such a hit, I’m so excited to share this months with you. In case you might’ve forgotten why i decided to launch this new section on my blog, it’s because women don’t get enough recognition or the credit they deserve. Every month, I will write about a new woman who in some way has inspired or changed my life. This month, I have chosen to write about Rose McGowan. Read below to find out why and how Rose has inspired me, I’m sure you guys will be inspired by her as well.
When I think of Rose McGowan, warrior and inspiration are two of the first things that come to mind. Rose was one of the first women to come forward and break her silence on the disturbing sexual assault and cult-like life in Hollywood. Though many of you have heard about these traumatic and heartbreaking events/stories, I have decided to focus mainly on why Rose has FINALLY earned her well deserved title as being on of the strongest and most inspiring women in the world.
I first found out about her in her iconic role as Paige Matthews, in the hit show Charmed. I think I was about three or four at the time I started watching the show, and Paige was my absolute favorite. It’s very strange that at that age I was interested and watched the show, but I adored her character and loved everything about the show. Rose was someone I paid a lot of attention to growing up, even if she was mainly known as an “actress” in Hollywood. For some reason, I always felt so connected and interested in her as a person.
Flash forward to my life now, she became a leading light and hero to me. As many of you know, I look up to many women, but she for sure has been at the top for quite some time. Her bravery, strength, love, compassion, and dedication to change the world has inspired me on a daily basis. Her efforts to end hate, discrimination, and sexual assault everywhere have inspired me to use my voice to shed light and fight for what I believe in, no matter what anyone thinks or says about me.
Rose has instilled this fire-like persona in my personality, and I truly don’t know how to describe it. She makes me want to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be, and makes me want to share my story to inspire people who might be struggling like I am, or have, in life. Although I have never had the opportunity to meet Rose, I one day hope to give her the biggest hug and thank her for her mission to make the world a better and safer place for women, children, and people all over.
I hope you never stop fighting and never let anyone bring you down. You are a hero to so many and I truly wish you nothing but the best in life.
You are the definition of brave, Rose McGowan.
