Cody Simpson is back with grit, heart, and a few bruises to prove it. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter has released the Fight Club-inspired music video for his new single “When It Comes to Loving You,” out now via Range Music/BMG, marking a bold new chapter in his artistic comeback.

In the cinematic masterpiece, the 29-year-old Australian star enters a dimly lit boxing gym before facing off in a full-blown, bloody fight. Somewhere between vulnerability and victory, Cody emerges triumphant, lifting his opponent and collecting his winnings before walking away alone.

The raw, visceral imagery captures the tension between struggle and self-discovery: themes that mirror both the song’s emotional core and Simpson’s real-life journey back to music.

“All through my years as a professional swimmer I was so excited about eventual return,” Simpson said to People Magazine. “I felt like a bowstring pulled back. So when I was finally able to get back into the studio every day it just poured out of me. It took about a year to figure out exactly what I wanted to achieve sonically but I feel like I got there with this sound — and I’m so excited to finally start rolling it out.”

After balancing Olympic swimming and personal reinvention, Cody’s creative focus has never been sharper. This release hints that the next round for Cody Simpson will be his most authentic and fearless yet.
