Charlie Puth’s long-teased fourth studio album Whatever’s Clever! is out now via Atlantic Records, a 12-track set that finds him leaning all the way into the smooth, nostalgic sounds he grew up loving.

Speaking to Vogue about the project, Charlie explained just how aligned he finally feels with his music: “I’m really excited that my life has finally lined up musically to where I want to be. The music is directly parallel with that, which is why Whatever’s Clever! is all Yacht Rock 2026-style.”

He also described the album as the kind of record he can see himself playing years from now in a different life chapter. “With all respect to the artists that are featured on this album, it’s music I would listen to as a dad, if that makes sense. So I feel very aligned with it,” he said. Charlie added that the timing feels meaningful, noting that he believes there’s “serendipity” in the way this album is arriving and that there might be a reason it’s coming out in this exact season of his life.

Whatever’s Clever! features 12 songs, including previously released singles like “Changes,” “Beat Yourself Up,” and “Home” (feat. Hikaru Utada), and includes collaborations with artists such as Kenny G, Ravyn Lenae, Hikaru Utada, Coco Jones, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, and Jeff Goldblum, blending Puth’s piano-pop instincts with full-on “yacht rock 2.0” textures.

Across the tracklist, he leans into retro-leaning arrangements, live instrumentation, and lyrical themes that sit somewhere between self-reflection, grown-up vulnerability, and easy-driving warmth. To support the album, Charlie is heading out on the Whatever’s Clever! Tour, a world tour that kicks off on Wednesday, April 22nd in San Diego at Viejas Arena.

From there, he’ll spend the spring and early summer moving across California, Arizona, Washington, British Columbia, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ontario, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee, before wrapping things up on Saturday, June 13th in Houston, Texas.

With Whatever’s Clever! now out in full and a sprawling tour on deck, Charlie Puth has officially entered a new lane: confident, self-aware, and making the kind of smooth, melodic pop he’s been hinting at for years, this time, totally on purpose.
