With just weeks to go until the release of his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, Charlie Puth dropped a new single that feels like a heartfelt thesis statement. “Home” (feat. Hikaru Utada) is out now, along with the official music video directed by Hunter Moreno. It captures the emotional center of where Puth is in his life right now: grounded, in love, and finally sure of where he belongs.
In a touching statement about the track, Charlie revealed that “Home” was written for his best friend, wife, and soon-to-be mother of their first child, Brooke. “Brooke has changed my life for the better and given me a whole new perspective on why and where I belong in this world,” he shared. “Everything makes sense with her.”
Puth also called it a “true gift” to have one of his favorite artists, Hikaru Utada, featured on the track. “To have the honor of one of my favorite artists, Hikaru Utada, featuring on this song with me, is a true gift. She gives the song a depth and beauty that I’m so grateful for. She is incredible!” he said. Their collaboration layers Charlie’s classic melodic sensitivity with Utada’s ethereal, emotional vocal presence, giving “Home” an added dimension that fans of both artists will latch onto.
Charlie is currently gearing up to embark on his WHATEVER’S CLEVER! World Tour, which kicks off April 22nd at Viejas Arena in San Diego before hitting more than a dozen cities across North America, and then heading into a European leg through June and July. The new single feels tailor-made for those shows… the kind of song that will likely become a centerpiece moment in the set, complete with phone flashlights in the air and a very emotional crowd sing-along.
Now, with Whatever’s Clever! on the way and “Home” out in the world, Charlie Puth is inviting fans into the most intimate corner of his life so far. It’s not just a song about a place; it’s about a person, a family, and a feeling he’s been chasing for years. And if this single is any indication, the album to come is going to hit just as hard emotionally as it does sonically.
