Belgian pop phenomenon Angèle has returned with a bold new single, “What You Want,” an electrifying collaboration with French electronic titans Justice, out now via Angèle VL Records/Because Music. The track arrives as a sharp left turn in her catalog, pairing her featherlight, bilingual vocals with Justice’s muscular, industrial synths for a sound that’s as sensual as it is dangerous.
The song was born from a studio link-up after Angèle attended a Justice show in Brussels in late 2024 and met the duo backstage. She later invited them to listen to demos she’d been working on, including an early version of “What You Want,” a sultry and offbeat track she loved but hadn’t fully cracked. Trusting their instincts, she told them to “do what you want with it,” and they came back with a reimagined version that amped up the electro-club tension while preserving her core melodic identity.
Angèle has described the finished song as the perfect fusion of their worlds, crediting Justice with bringing “power” and “tension” to a track that had been missing that final jolt. Justice’s Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé, in turn, have praised Angèle as an “excellent musician and producer,” saying the collaboration felt natural despite their stylistic differences, and that the track called for something “sensual and brutal” they instinctively connected with.
“What You Want” arrives alongside a striking video created with the acclaimed collective (LA)HORDE, known for work with Madonna, Sam Smith, and Christine and the Queens. Shot at night on an iPhone 17 Pro in the backstreets of Marseille, the clip follows Angèle through laundromats, streets, and bars with dancer Nora Monsecour, turning the city into a stage for desire, escape, and quiet rebellion.
On the track, Angèle switches between English and French, purring lines like “What you want / I’m only / What you want / c’est pour la vie,” as she toys with submission before subtly reclaiming the upper hand.
Justice’s production wraps those vocals in heavy, mechanical beats and cathedral-sized synths, creating a push-pull dynamic that feels both intimate and explosive. The result is electronic pop that’s muscular without being macho, and pop that’s emotionally precise while still ready for the dance floor.
“What You Want” follows a massive run for Angèle, coming in the wake of her 2024 Paris Olympics performance with Phoenix and Kavinsky and years of global momentum that includes billions of streams, a Dua Lipa collab (“Fever”), a Netflix doc, CHANEL campaigns, NYFW moments, and her first U.S. tour with a Coachella debut.
This new single doesn’t feel like the start of something tentative, it sounds like an artist fully locked into her moment, sharpening her sound and widening her scope. “What You Want” is out now on all major platforms, with the official video streaming on Angèle’s YouTube channel.
