Ryan Murphy’s newest anthology, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, premieres tonight, and it’s aiming straight for the heart.
The first installment in his Love Story series dramatizes the whirlwind romance between American royalty John F. Kennedy Jr. (played by Paul Anthony Kelly) and the impossibly chic Carolyn Bessette (played by Sarah Pidgeon), tracing how their private love became a very public obsession.
The show’s synopsis puts it perfectly: “John and Carolyn’s connection was immediate, electric and undeniable. As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.”

It leans into both the glamour and the pressure: two people trying to hold onto each other while the world watches, judges, and projects onto them at every turn.
The rollout is cleverly structured: the first three episodes of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette drop tonight, February 12th, at 9 p.m. ET, making the premiere the only night fans get more than one episode at once.
After that, the season settles into a weekly rhythm, with a new episode airing every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT until the finale on March 26th. It’s very much appointment TV: slow-burn romance, tension, and tragedy meted out one chapter at a time.
With Murphy behind the anthology and a story this iconic at its center, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette is set up to be both a nostalgic deep dive and a fresh look at a couple we all thought we already knew. Watch the trailer below and clear your Thursday nights, this one’s going to hurt beautifully.
