Ghostface has officially returned, and so has the original final girl.

The first trailer for Scream 7 just dropped and it confirms what longtime fans have been praying for: Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott in the franchise’s most emotional and terrifying chapter yet.

This installment marks the long-awaited return of creator Kevin Williamson in the director’s chair. Williamson, who wrote the original Scream as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4, is bringing the story full circle in a sequel that follows Sidney as a mother trying to protect her family from a new Ghostface threat.

The official synopsis sets the scene:

“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter, played by Isabel May, becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”

In one of the most shocking and nostalgic twists, Matthew Lillard returns as Stu Macher, while Skeet Ulrich reprises his role as Billy Loomis. The film reunites legacy characters and fan favorites, including Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Scott Foley as Scream 3 killer Roman Bridger.

Even the dead are not staying dead this time. David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Scott Foley are all reprising their deceased characters in what looks like the most meta chapter the franchise has ever attempted.

Scream 7 also introduces an impressive lineup of new faces including Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, and Jimmy Tatro, along with breakout star Isabel May in the pivotal role of Sidney’s daughter.

With the return of the franchise’s original creative voice, a multigenerational cast, and a storyline that brings Sidney’s trauma and power into a new era, the trailer delivers exactly what fans hoped for: nostalgia, suspense, bloodshed, and heart.
