All work and no IMAX made this a long time coming! For the first time ever, Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece The Shining will hit IMAX screens on December 12th, giving the iconic horror classic the towering presentation it has always deserved.

Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall star in Kubrick’s chilling adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel. Writer Jack Torrance accepts a winter caretaker job at a remote Rocky Mountain hotel, bringing his wife and their psychic young son along for the season.

When the first blizzard seals the only road out, the Overlook’s dark history begins to seep through the walls. Stored energy from a lifetime of evil turns the isolation into a pressure cooker. Jack’s grip on reality loosens, and the family’s fight for survival becomes a haunting study of madness, memory, and violence.

IMAX will showcase the film’s eerily precise compositions, unnerving long takes, and that legendary tricycle glide through the Overlook’s hallways with new scale and clarity. From the opening helicopter sweep over the mountains to the final moments in the hedge maze, the sensory jolt is set to be definitive.

Tickets will go fast! Be sure to sign up now to be notified the moment tickets go on sale and make a winter pilgrimage to the Overlook the way Kubrick would have wanted it seen.
