It’s officially release day for Lukas Gage’s memoir,I Wrote This For Attention,” and yes, it’s already living rent-free in my cart.

The book, out today via Simon & Schuster, is a riveting and heartwarming look into the heartrob’s upbringing on the West Coast.

Across 320 pages, the actor opens up about growing up in a broken family, navigating addiction and sex, living with borderline personality disorder, and his lifelong commitment to being the center of attention, even as he actually became a star.

One of the most memorable threads throughout the memoir revolves around music, per many reviews from people who have gotten their copies early. Lukas shares how his love for punk and metal came from his brother and stepfather, shaping his early identity and fueling his creative energy.

The memoir is also available as an audiobook, which Lukas narrates himself, and he wants fans to listen.

“I really like the Audible version. What I’ve been told from a lot of people that have listened to the audiobook, is that it’s a very, very different experience for them, and they find it more fun,” he shared. “I’ve been told it’s more fun to hear me play these different parts.”

I pre-ordered my signed copy months ago (of course), but I’ll be grabbing another one at the bookstore today because this is one release I’m not missing.

I Wrote This For Attention is out now everywhere books are sold, with signed editions available for purchase here. Don’t walk, run!
