Last night’s Emmy Awards gave us a moment that had every Gilmore Girls fan crying into their coffee: Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham reunited on stage in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary. The mother-daughter duo brought all the nostalgia (and all the banter) back to primetime, and it truly felt like Stars Hollow was alive again.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter before the ceremony, Graham admitted that nothing official had been planned for the anniversary. “So to be asked to, I mean, it’s not exactly a reunion because we’ve seen each other, but to honor the show in this way feels like the party that we didn’t quite have,” she said. “Maybe we’ll be better prepared for the 30th.”
On stage, the two slipped right back into their signature rhythm, poking fun at the scrappy beginnings of Gilmore Girls. Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore in the show, joked about how small their budget was, saying, “If there was a birthday at The Drew Carey Show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake.” Bledel, who starred as Rory Gilmore, quickly added, “We looked hungry.”

The nostalgia didn’t stop there. They laughed about filming fake Connecticut in Burbank, saving up all year just for one snow episode, and getting overshadowed by ER (who had George Clooney and the money to literally wash away their snow).
“Basically, we were bullied and starving,” Bledel joked before Graham reminded the audience that what they did have was scripts. “Terrifyingly length scripts,” Alexis added.

It was equal parts comedy and heart, exactly the kind of magic that made Gilmore Girls such an iconic series in the first place. To see Rory and Lorelai standing together again, making us laugh like no time had passed, was the perfect way to celebrate 25 years of coffee, chaos, and unforgettable dialogue.
