Netflix just dropped the chilling trailer for its next installment in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series, and this time, the focus is on Ed Gein.
Titled Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the series stars Charlie Hunnam in one of the darkest roles of his career, portraying the notorious Wisconsin killer whose crimes in the 1950s went on to inspire some of Hollywood’s most infamous villains.
The new season dives into Gein’s twisted world: the murders, the grave-robbing, and the disturbing obsession with his late mother that ultimately shaped his horrifying legacy. For those unfamiliar, Gein’s story is considered the blueprint behind iconic fictional characters like Norman Bates in Psycho.

Alongside Hunnam, the cast is stacked. Laurie Metcalf stars as Gein’s mother, Augusta, while Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams take on Alfred Hitchcock and Alma Reville.
Addison Rae joins the cast as Evelyn Hartley, with Charlie Hall playing Deputy Frank Worden. Suzanna Son, Lesley Manville, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill, and Robin Weigert also appear in key roles.
From the trailer alone, it’s clear Monster: The Ed Gein Story won’t hold back on exploring how Gein’s crimes shocked a community and how the ripple effects of his depravity still linger in pop culture decades later.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story premieres October 3rd on Netflix, and based on the buzz, it’s shaping up to be one of the most unsettling chapters in the anthology yet.
