The Jonas Brothers are still finding ways to surprise us 20 years into their career. At their sold-out Dallas show last night, the trio performed “Backwards” live for the very first time, and the crowd collectively lost it.
The track, number three on their latest album Greetings from Your Hometown, has already become a fan-favorite for its hauntingly beautiful production and raw emotion.
The deluxe edition of the record, which dropped August 12th, added a bonus track, “Tantrum,” and an acoustic version of “Love Me To Heaven.” But nothing could’ve prepared fans for hearing “Backwards” live for the first time.
The performance was breathtaking. Joe’s vocals carried a weight and richness that made the lyrics hit even harder, while Nick and Kevin layered in their signature harmonies and guitar work that elevated the track to an entirely new level. On the album, “Backwards” is already stunning, but live? It’s spine-tingling.
It also raises the question: could we be getting another live album soon? The brothers dropped Live from the O2 London this past summer, and with moments like Dallas happening, a Jonas 20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour Live Soundtrack feels not just possible, but necessary.
