It’s finally happening! MTV is going back to its roots (sort of) with nonstop music videos in honor of the 2025 MTV VMAs.

Starting tomorrow, fans can tune into MTV2, MTV Live, and MTV Classic for a full week of back-to-back music videos, more than 700 in total, many of which haven’t aired in over a decade.

But let’s be real, the headline here is that Britney Spears leads all artists with the most videos in rotation: 21 in total. MTV called her “MTV royalty,” but let’s go ahead and say it like it is… Britney isn’t just MTV royalty, she is pop culture royalty.

Britney’s legacy with the VMAs is unmatched. From “…Baby One More Time” to her iconic 2001 performance with a snake, she set the standard for what the show could be. The truth is, the VMAs haven’t been the same without her, and they never will be.

Her presence, her visuals, and her ability to create cultural earthquakes with a single performance prove that Britney Spears isn’t just part of the VMAs, she is the VMAs.

The 2025 MTV VMAs air live Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 PM EST/5 PM PST on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+.

Even Paris Hilton is getting in on the fun, curating her seven favorite music videos as part of the weeklong event. But the fact that Britney is leading the entire lineup speaks volumes. The industry has shifted, pop stars have come and gone, but Britney remains untouchable.
