Perrie Edwards is finally ready to step into the spotlight on her own. The former Little Mix star has officially announced her debut album, simply titled Perrie, set to drop on September 26th via Columbia Records.
Along with the big reveal, Perrie also treated fans to the video for her latest single, If He Wanted To Would, giving another glimpse into what her new era is all about.
Speaking to Rolling Stone UK, Perrie admitted that her creative process took some time. “I’m really proud of this first song and the upcoming album. I’m glad I stuck to my guns. I just felt in my gut that the first try didn’t feel 100 percent like it was me. Now I just feel like it’s really autobiographical. It’s just about my life, my experiences, and it feels a lot more genuine to me.”
As for inspiration, Perrie shouted out some of her biggest songwriting heroes: “Amy Allen has always been one of my favourite songwriters ever. Nina Nesbitt too, who I work with a lot.”
Fans can already pre-order the album in a variety of formats; including signed CDs, vinyls, and more, but move fast because they’re expected to sell out quickly.
With Perrie, the pop starlet is proving this debut isn’t just a new chapter, it’s the start of a story that’s fully hers.
