Kim Petras is just into her new era, and we’re already obsessed.

Her latest single, “Freak It,” dropped as a follow-up to the undeniably cute and confident “Polo,” and it’s been on repeat ever since. Originally intended to be the final track on her long-awaited album that she calls, #%💽#, Kim gave fans what they wanted after it blew up online.

“This song was originally supposed to be the final track on #%💽# but you guys loved it so much I made it the 2nd single! Because I care about you guys and I want to make you happy,” she wrote on Instagram earlier today.

And if you thought the song was just a banger, there’s meaning behind the magic. “I really miss Avicii sometimes and so does @angel__emoji and @lulu.wav so we channeled him in the booth,” Kim shared, opening up about the inspiration.

“@margo_xs and @nightfeelingss went through 37 different mixes. Ppl don’t really understand how hard it can be to Freak It all the time and the consequences Freaking It can come with.”

Despite all the blood, sweat, and sparkle, Kim emphasized the joy behind the process: “Thank you guys for freaking with Freak It and showing it so much freaking love. We worked really freaking hard on it and had a lot of fun too.”

Following the Y2K-meets-snow-bunny brilliance of “Polo,” Kim is fully locked in for what’s shaping up to be her most exciting project yet.

“Polo was the first song that kinda reset all of the music I was working on. It makes me feel cute and like a bitch,” she shared when the track first dropped.

“When we wrote it I had three broken toes and Margo XS and I were just playing SSX 3 and Silent Hill and it kinda just magically came to us and was everything!!”

Although she’s put out full-length projects before, it’s clear that #%💽# marks her official debut album. If “Freak It” and “Polo” are just the beginning, we’re so not ready for what’s next.
