James Maslow has some exciting news for fans!
The star just announced his first solo single in years, “EYES,” dropping August 22nd, and if you’ve been waiting for something raw, personal, and straight from the heart, this one’s for you.
“EYES – my first single in a very long time is dropping 8/22!” Maslow wrote on Instagram today. “While I’ve made songs and even an album before, I’m treating this as the first of a new chapter. The beginning of something new. Raw. Authentic. Me.”
James, who’s currently on the road with his BTR bandmates for the In Real Life Worldwide Tour, is balancing arena shows and new music like a pro.
The tour kicked off earlier this month in Alabama and has already swept through Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and more. If you’re lucky, you might just hear EYES live before the summer’s over.
He shared that the track was written on a piano in his first house in Nashville, where music had become fun again for him. “Magic almost,” he said of the process.
“I write at least 2–3 days a week when I’m home, with the most talented and grounded people. And it has reignited a passion in me that I haven’t felt this strong since I started playing music.”
Maslow released his debut solo album, “How I Like It,” back in 2017, but EYES marks a fresh start: a more honest, connected version of himself, and this one’s especially personal.
“This song is about my fiancé @caitlinsheyspears, and there is an amazing video coming right behind this with her starring as the muse that she is,” he shared.
“I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating. If so, get ready for a lot more.” James Maslow is stepping into a new era, and we’re so here for it.
