Miley Cyrus sat down with Good Morning America this week to talk about her latest artistic chapter—and she’s not holding back.
The Grammy-winning superstar opened up about her powerful new visual album, “Something Beautiful,” and the personal film that accompanies it, which officially lands on Hulu and Disney+ tomorrow (after a one-night-only theatrical premiere last month).
In the candid interview, Miley dives into everything from fear to fame, shedding light on the emotional toll of touring and why she’s chosen to step back, for now.
“I like to do things I’m afraid of,” Miley shared. “I’ve jumped out of airplanes, I performed for 150,000 people, [and] I stood toe to toe with Beyoncé.”
As fans know, Miley has previously spoken about her complicated relationship with touring, but this conversation took things deeper. She got real about the emotional whiplash that can come with performing for tens of thousands of people night after night.
“You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so, dopamine,” she explained. “You feel a lot of love, then you totally crash at the end of the show. You start thinking one person loving you is not enough. It needs to be 10,000. It needs to be 80,000.”

She continued, “I wish I had the desire [to tour] but I don’t. I also don’t think there’s actually an infrastructure that supports artists. It’s hard to maintain sobriety when you’re on the road, which is a really important pillar in my life. People are losing their life and losing their minds. It’s really hard to keep mental wellness.”
And listen, it’s beyond understandable. Miley has given so much of herself for years. The pressure, the chaos, the unrealistic expectations… she doesn’t owe anyone anything. Touring or not, she’s delivering art on her terms, and “Something Beautiful” is proof of just how powerful that can be.
