Pop queen Slayyyter just gave Interview Magazine an inside look at what life has been like on the road this Pride season, and honestly, it made us love her even more.

The Starfucker singer opened up about performing at Chicago’s All Of Us Festival during Pride weekend, the energy of queer spaces, and what it truly means to be embraced by the LGBTQ+ community.

“I grew up listening to pop music that had a lot of life in queer spaces,” she told Interview. “It feels kind of natural that that’s the space where my music lives as well.”

Slayyyter, who’s built a devoted fanbase with her fearless sound and chaotic Y2K pop flair, is also gearing up to join Kesha on her upcoming Tits Out Tour. (A literal match made in messy-pop heaven.)

But beyond the bangers and backstage chaos, she also revealed a more personal shift happening in her tour life: she’s staying sober on the road.

“Our pre-show ritual is to take a ginger shot. It used to be a real shot but I’m more sober when I’m touring now… I don’t really like to be hungover. It messes my voice up,” she said. “So we do ginger shots. It’s a fun little thing. We get really superstitious about it if we don’t do it before a show, like something is going to go wrong.”

From small club gigs to massive festival stages, Slayyyter’s evolution has been real and the love she gets from the LGBTQ+ community isn’t just mutual, it’s earned. She’s loud, proud, and completely herself, on and off stage.
