Lorde is back and she’s never sounded more fearless.

The GRAMMY award-winning artist has officially released her fourth studio album, Virgin, out now on all streaming platforms. The album marks her first since 2021’s “Solar Power,” and it’s already making waves for its bold themes, standout visuals, and deeply honest storytelling.

The rollout began a few months back when Lorde sparked chaos in New York City with the release of “What Was That,” a haunting, cryptic track that quickly went viral. That momentum continued with follow-up singles “Hammer” and “Man of the Year”, both offering deeper glimpses into the emotional and sonic world of Virgin.

The new album features 11 tracks in total, each leaning into Lorde’s signature ability to balance vulnerability with razor-sharp commentary. But beyond the sound, fans are also talking about the cover art, an x-ray of a pelvis with a visible IUD.

Lorde called the image “kind of like a photo of yourself that you don’t love, but captures something true about you.” It’s raw, personal, and totally in line with the kind of unfiltered energy Virgin brings from start to finish.

This isn’t just a new era, it’s a reinvention. Lorde’s Virgin is bold, complex, and unafraid to challenge pop norms. In other words: she’s done it again.

Ella sat down with Zane Lowe to discuss the new record, and it’s clear she’s happier than ever. Watch the full interview below!
