Taylor Swift has made the emotional, long-awaited announcement that all of the music she’s ever made now belongs to her. In a powerful open letter posted to her website today, Taylor confirmed that she has officially purchased the rights to her original master recordings, a battle Swifties have followed closely since 2019.
In her message, the 14-time Grammy winner shared: “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” She went on to tell fans: “I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now. The best things that have ever been mine … finally actually are.”

Taylor revealed that she acquired her catalog from its most recent owner, Shamrock Capital, who purchased it from controversial music manager Scooter Braun. Though she didn’t disclose the final amount, reports estimate the deal came in at around $360 million.
While the figure is still unconfirmed, what matters most is that Taylor has finally reclaimed the work she poured her entire heart and soul into, not the shady labels or men who tried to control her legacy.
This moment marks the culmination of a years-long journey. Taylor began re-recording her early albums in 2021, starting with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version).
Each release has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and become cultural touchstones, with fans celebrating not just the music but the message behind it: ownership, autonomy, and power.

Most recently, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) arrived in October 2023, just months after Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). While many expected Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to drop next, Taylor offered a vulnerable update in her note: “Full transparency. I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it.”
She explained how emotionally complex the Reputation era still feels to her, saying, “To be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it… But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of sadness and longing. It will just be a celebration now.”

Taylor also expressed her gratitude toward the team at Shamrock Capital: “My first tattoo just might be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead.” She emphasized how much it meant to finally buy her music with no strings attached, no side deals, no partnerships—just full creative control.
In closing, she reminded fans that this milestone is a shared one: “Thanks to you and your goodwill, teamwork and encouragement, the best things that have ever been mine… finally actually are.”
After everything, she won. And we’re all crying on the floor about it. Read the full note on her site now!
