Miley Cyrus is stepping into her most reflective, and fearless, era yet. In a powerful new interview with Zane Lowe, the Grammy Award-winning artist opens up about her upcoming album, Something Beautiful, arriving May 30th via Columbia Records.
Described as an “experimental-pop” visual album, the companion film will hit theaters for a one-night-only U.S. release on June 12th, with international dates set for June 27th.
“This is pop music,” Miley says confidently about the new project, while noting it marks a huge shift in her artistry. “When you Google me, it says ‘Miley Cyrus, a Grammy Award-winning artist.’ Now I’m gonna go make some of my weird shit that I like to make.”
The deeply personal body of work reflects Miley’s continued evolution, both musically and emotionally. “The last 20 years of my career felt like white noise,” she confesses. “Now I found new love for all my songs, all versions of me, all eras.”

Cyrus also reflects on generational healing and the influence of her mom, Tish Cyrus, in shaping her voice, both literally and metaphorically. “My mom, who made me who I am, always taught me to stand up for myself, to speak up for myself,” Miley said.
“All of us are doing some healing inside of ourselves that maybe our parents didn’t do,” she added. “I feel the generation my Mom was brought up in, it wasn’t encouraged for women to speak up.”
The conversation with Zane Lowe gets raw, as Miley discusses how she maintains mental clarity. “I keep up with my therapy, my nutrition, and the way that I work out in the gym to get out some of that rage and some of that brokenness.”
She also emphasized the importance of sobriety in her life: “That’s my god. I need it. I live for it. It’s changed my entire life.”
Always self-aware, Miley touches on fame and how the media magnifies her presence: “I know when they’re writing these headlines, or these articles about me, the thing that makes people click is me. So the more involved and embedded and entangled I become in this, the more valuable it becomes.”
There’s even a potential dream collab brewing: Miley revealed that her friend Stevie Nicks wants her to team up with Harry Styles. Yes, you read that right. Stevie said it, and it seems Miley’s down. The fans are already manifesting.
With Something Beautiful, Miley Cyrus is reminding the world that growth is loud, messy, and meant to be seen, and thankfully she’s inviting us all to witness it.
Fans can watch and listen to the full interview with Zane Lowe now. Something Beautiful is available to pre-save and pre-order now, ahead of its May 30th release.
