Snoop Dogg just reminded the world why he’s a living legend.
On May 15th, the hip-hop icon shocked fans with the release of his 21st solo studio album, “Iz It A Crime?“, a 21-track body of work packed with his signature West Coast sound and raw lyricism. Dropping just six months after Missionary, his 2023 collaborative project with Dr. Dre, this new record marks yet another chapter in Snoop’s decades-long reign.
Released under Death Row Records, “Iz It A Crime?“ boasts high-profile collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Wiz Khalifa, Sexyy Red, and LaRussell. Each track blends Snoop’s unmistakable flow with timely commentary, delivered in a way only he can.
Speaking at an album preview event in New York City on May 13th, Snoop told press he felt the need to respond to recent public discourse, not through interviews, but through music.
“I felt like there was a lot of unanswered questions over the past six months and I just wanted to answer them through my music,” Snoop explained to the New York Post.
Never one to play politics, Snoop made it clear he’s always going to speak his truth.
“I’m not a politician. I don’t represent the Republican Party. I don’t represent the Democratic Party. I represent the [expletive] Gangster Party, point blank period,” he said. “We don’t explain [expletive], so that’s why I didn’t explain, that’s why I didn’t go into detail when [expletive] was trying to cancel me and say ‘he’s a sellout.’”
With “Iz It A Crime?,” Snoop Dogg reclaims his narrative; unapologetic, unfiltered, and undeniably iconic. The full album is now available to stream on Spotify and all major platforms.
