Mark your calendars…the wait is almost over!
Benito Skinner’s highly anticipated new comedy series Overcompensating premieres tomorrow, May 15th, with all eight episodes dropping exclusively on Prime Video. If you want to get technical though, you can start streaming at 11PM EST according to the site lol.
Created by (aka Benny Drama), Overcompensating is a bold, college-set ensemble comedy that follows the life of Benny, a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he navigates a new world of self-discovery and chaos after befriending Carmen, an ambitious outsider dead-set on fitting in.
According to Amazon, the series is “deeply funny and personal,” exploring “the lengths to which we all overcompensate while finding out who we really are.”
The cast is stacked with talent, including Mary Beth Barone, Wally Baram, Adam DiMarco, Rish Shah, and Connie Britton, alongside Skinner himself in the lead role.

And while the story behind the screen is just as juicy, one of the most iconic elements of the show is Charli XCX’s involvement.
Skinner famously approached the pop superstar at a party to pitch Overcompensating, and Charli immediately said yes. The rest? Total slay. Not only did she help bring the show to life, but fans can also expect a surprise appearance from Charli herself.
This isn’t just another comedy: it’s a culturally rich, painfully honest, and wickedly funny series that digs deep into identity, friendship, and how we all try (and fail) to be cool.
