Comedy Nerd: A Lifelong Obsession in Stories and Pictures” by Judd Apatow

Comedy legend Judd Apatow is giving fans an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at his extraordinary journey through comedy with his brand-new book, Comedy Nerd: A Lifelong Obsession in Stories and Pictures. Hitting shelves October 28, the highly visual memoir reveals never-before-seen pieces of Apatow’s life, career, and creative process.

Described as a “lifelong journey of fandom, creativity, and obsession,” Comedy Nerd isn’t your typical memoir. The book includes hundreds of personal photos, early drafts, hand-written letters, and unshared scripts, documenting Apatow’s rise from comedy-obsessed teen to one of the most influential forces in modern entertainment.

Longtime collaborator Lena Dunham—who co-created HBO’s Girls with Apatow—has penned the book’s introduction, adding her own perspective to a story that’s as personal as it is pivotal to the world of comedy.

In an interview with People, Apatow explained, “I saved literally everything my entire career and have so much stuff that nobody has ever seen.

According to the official press release, the book dives deep into “the exacting, relentless work that goes into cracking people up; surprising stories about our favorite comedians; and insights into how Apatow has managed to push the limits of his craft in an ever-evolving cultural landscape.

Comedy Nerd isn’t just a memoir—it’s a time capsule for fans of comedy, filmmaking, and storytelling. Whether you’re obsessed with Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Freaks and Geeks, Girls, or are fans of his entire family like I am, this is a must-have.

Pre-orders are open now wherever books are sold. The countdown to October 28th is officially on!
