Ben Affleck is getting real about life in the spotlight!
The Oscar-winning actor sat down with comedian Theo Von for a new episode of This Past Weekend with Theo Von, where he opened up about his early days in Hollywood, raising his kids, the reality of paparazzi culture, and how social media has changed the movie-making process.
Affleck, who is currently promoting his new film The Accountant 2 (in theaters now), reflected on the constant attention he’s faced over the years — and how it impacts his daily life.
“This isn’t really news. It’s not real,” he said, speaking about the way paparazzi culture distorts reality. “It’s not what would be happening if this effect wasn’t taking place. And that’s where I thought, ‘Okay, the sort of wise thing to do is just maintain one’s perspective and try to remove yourself a little bit, which is what I would like to do.”

The star and Dad of two also admitted he’s not always thrilled to be photographed, especially when he’s simply trying to live his life. “I also don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why’s this dude always mad?’ Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face, and I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go,’” Affleck told Theo.
During the conversation, Affleck also touched on his experiences as a father, his love for storytelling, and how the entertainment industry has evolved in a world dominated by social media.
As fans head back to theaters for The Accountant 2, Affleck’s candid conversation with Theo Von offers a rare, honest glimpse into the mind of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
